About Me – The Journey Behind Find Yourself Travels

Hi there, and welcome to Find Yourself Travels! I’m so glad you’re here.

My name is Eric, and I’m an educator by profession and a traveler at heart. While I spend my weekdays in the classroom inspiring young minds, I spend every school break out in the world — exploring, learning, growing, and embracing adventure. I created this blog to document my travels and share the magic of exploring new places, whether it’s with family in tow or solo with a backpack and a curious heart.

A Passion for Both Learning and Travel

Teaching has always been my calling. I love guiding students, watching them grow, and helping them discover the world around them. But outside the classroom, my own learning continues — in airports, in bustling street markets, on scenic hikes, and through quiet moments in foreign places.

For me, travel isn’t just about checking places off a list. It’s about connection, perspective, and discovery. It’s where I find inspiration, reset my spirit, and reconnect with who I am beyond the everyday routine. Every destination offers something new — a lesson, a story, a challenge, or a joy.

I truly believe that travel is one of the most powerful forms of education — and it’s never just for the students.

How It All Started

My love for travel started in small ways. Weekend getaways with family. Day trips to local hidden gems. School vacations that became my window to the world. Over time, what started as a few simple trips evolved into a deep-rooted passion.

Each journey opened my eyes more and more. From standing in awe at national parks in the U.S. to navigating ancient cities abroad, I realized that these experiences were shaping me just as much as any book or classroom ever had. And I wanted a space to not only preserve these moments but to inspire others — especially educators and families — to explore, too.

That’s when Find Yourself Travels was born.

Learning Through Travel

Hidden Gems and Bucket List Spots

Some places change you forever — and I’ll be sharing the ones that did just that for me. From small towns to well-known wonders, each destination has a story.

Why “Find Yourself Travels”?

Because that’s what travel has done for me — helped me find myself, again and again.

In the rush of everyday life, especially as a teacher, it’s easy to get caught in routines and responsibilities. Travel is my reset button. It’s where I reconnect with joy, wonder, and a sense of purpose. It’s where I slow down, breathe deeply, and remember that life is meant to be lived fully.

Whether it’s watching the sunset over a mountain ridge, getting lost in the streets of an old city, or sharing laughter around a campfire — these are the moments that help us rediscover who we are and what matters most.

Some of My Favorite Travel Moments

Camping under the stars at Sutters Mill

Exploring the cobblestone alleys of Europe with a camera in hand

Watching my kids learn how to snorkel in crystal-clear waters

• Experiencing a new culture firsthand

Taking a spontaneous solo road trip just because I needed a little soul adventure

Every trip tells a story. And I’m here to share mine — while helping you write yours.

My Travel Style

I’m not all luxury, nor am I strictly budget — I’m a mix of both. I love finding affordable comfort, local experiences, and off-the-beaten-path treasures. I’m big on planning ahead but always leave room for spontaneity. My favorite souvenirs? Memories, journal entries, and a camera roll full of smiles and sunsets.

I believe in traveling mindfully and respectfully, learning from locals, supporting small businesses, and being open to the unexpected.
